Special Interest Kannapolis NC
Kannapolis, NC is the second largest city in Cabarrus County with a population of 39,000 in 2004 that covers two counties (Cabarrus and Rowan). Kannapolis is located in the I-85 corridor on the western side of Cabarrus County and the southern end of Rowan County. At one time, Kannapolis was a traditional mill village that surrounded Cannon Mills. Kannapolis incorporated in 1984, but its history goes back to 1906 when James William Cannon bought several farms to build Cannon Mills Company
While economic development is a priority in Kannapolis, it is not the only focus. Kannapolis city leaders have long recognizes that Recreation is another cornerstone to growth. This growth is being realized by consistently striving to meet the recreational needs of the people who enjoy living and visiting Kannapolis. Summer concert series, theme festivals, and the building of new parks are just a few of the successful efforts of our city leaders. These services and others make Kannapolis a great place to live. New neighborhood developments in the area and three different school systems are excellent examples of the attractiveness of our area.
The welcome mat has been rolled out, the award winning programs are in place and now Kannapolis awaits the new businesses we are working hard to attract to our beautiful area.
