Programs Small Business Events
Business Dialogue
Sponsored by:

Created for small business owners and managers, Business Dialogue is a forum for best practices. Each facilitated session is structured to last for one hour, during which the group suggests topics for discussion (i.e., sales, marketing, human resources, technology). By majority vote, two topics are selected and participants offer real-world experiences for ways they have successfully (and not-so-successfully sometimes!) dealt with the issue. As one member described Business Dialogue, "You get one hour's free consultation from a room full of experts!" Sessions are free, thanks to sponsors, and breakfast is included. A new feature, Business Dialogue Wiki, is available for participants to continue discussion on topics that are addressed during sessions. Username and password are provided for those present to access the site.

Cabarrus Business Showcase
Sponsored By:

The chamber provides members an opportunity to promote their products or services through a cost-effective tradeshow held annually. The 2007 showcase will be held on September 25 with a by-invitation-only "Premier Night" on September 24 for the express purpose of business-to-business networking. Activities include opportunities for business-to-business interaction, as well as marketing to the public. Approximately 100 exhibitors design eye-catching booths and often provide specials or giveaways to promote their business. Lots of excitement is generated through booth activities, door prize announcements and local restaurant food samples. A committee of dedicated volunteers design and oversee the show, with support from chamber staff. 2007 committee co-chairs are Fred Jordan, Exit Elite Properties, and Jim Quick, Village Fudge & Candy Shoppe.
"Small Business of the Year" Award

This annual award recognizes and honors exceptional businesses in the Cabarrus region. Nominations are submitted to the chamber and criteria includes 1) minimum of three years in business as an N.C. licensed entity; 2) member in good standing of the chamber; 3) growth in number of employees; 4) increase in sales and/or unit volume; 5) provision of current and past financial information; 6) innovation of product or service offered; 7) response to adversity; and 8) evidence of contributions to community-oriented projects. Applications are judged by chamber and economic development professionals outside the region to assure impartiality. The award is presented during the chamber's Annual Meeting in January. |
